Fedotov thanked the Federal penitentiary service and the Ministry of justice for the measures adopted after visits to prisons

MOSCOW, 30 Jul — RIA Novosti. The head of the presidential Council on human rights (HRC) Mikhail Fedotov thanked the Federal penitentiary service and the Ministry of justice for the measures taken by departments on visits undertaken by members of the HRC places of detention.

On Thursday, the HRC together with representatives of the Federal penitentiary service and the Ministry of justice, members of public monitoring commissions and human rights activists holds a special meeting dedicated to implementation of the recommendations of the Council in terms of ensuring human rights in establishments of criminally-Executive system.

“I have to say that the members of the Council regularly visit places of detention and after each visit we prepare the reporting, and final documents. And these final documents are always measures, for which the gratitude and the Ministry of justice and the Federal service of execution of punishments”, — said Fedotov, opening the session of the HRC.

Unfortunately, FSIN Vice-Director a little bit, and sometimes it so happens that the members of the HRC forced to hold site meetings in the regions without the participation of the leadership of the Federal penitentiary service, said the head of the Council.

“But they have a wonderful staff of other levels that are not inferior to the level of their skills their leaders, and it’s very good,” he added.
