An Israeli soldier fired at when he was guarding pilgrims


TEL AVIV, September 1 – RIA Novosti. An Israeli soldier was wounded, guarding Jewish worshippers at the Western Bank of the Jordan river, said the army press-service.

The military escorted the night of 16 buses with the believers to the tomb of the biblical Patriarch Joseph in the Palestinian town of Nablus.

The pilgrimage was accompanied by protests by Palestinian residents said the army.

Jewish pilgrims regularly come to pray at the tomb of Joseph, but always accompanied by the Israeli military and by prior agreement with the Palestinian authorities, under whose control the Shrine is 2000.
